Vanillah's team built the first version of Wefund's commercial real estate funding platform, with Richard Owens joining as CTO and co-founder.
The context
Wefund is a commercial real estate funding platform: document-heavy lending, where every deal carries deal packs, credit work and long hours of operational detail. The opportunity was to turn that operational weight into software.
What we built
We built the platform's first version through the First Five Eight team - the premium, multi-skilled model Vanillah runs on: design, development, product and delivery from a small senior team, without the client hiring for each role separately.
The role
Richard Owens joined Wefund as CTO and co-founder, went fully dedicated, and ran it. That meant years inside the lending operation from the owner's side of the table - not consulting from the outside, but living the workflow the software had to serve.

The Wefund chapter is the reason Vanillah specialises in CRE finance. The platform, the agents and the verification apps all come from first-hand time inside document-heavy lending - the same problems, now productised for other firms.
